The Flow Down
The Art of Poetry and Spoken Word
Untied Shoe Laces
by Komplex
cracked voices shiny pimples and braces truth in their embraces
see my future in their faces
and my past, thru them I can change it…almost
I promise I will, never will never slaughter my outer child
as I get older, wear a wider and taller smile
be as happy as a child is
its your formative years that teach you how to hug hard and smile big
tho water in young tears is no less salty and you cry big too
and some boogie men never go away…never let go
and you feel everything, honest like an echo
I remember wanting help so I give it tho I didn’t get
know what y’all are feeling cus’ I remember, refuse to forget
I can live again thru them, don’t have to cry this time
don’t have to try this time to fit in
I walk in cool
they seem less cruel…this time
I love working with children. I’ve realized that it is your childhood that defines your adulthood so I value the opportunity to be a part of the defining process for the next generation. It is my way of changing the world. I frequently look back on my childhood wishing I had a cool adult who could connect with me enough to provide me some insight I could use. Around 15 I got quite a bit from my boy’s older cousin Dexter, but it was too late and not enough. To the kids I am so cool and as a kid I was never cool. I relish how they see me, its healing to the wounds that I suffered as one of them.
